Sales Manager

Professionally represent NHS while successfully building our client base of business by selling guest rooms, function space, and food & beverage events. The Sales Manager is responsible for soliciting business through direct client contact for the purpose of maximizing profits of the hotel.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Solicit sales for the property through planned, personal appointments, telephone solicitations, and various social media channels.

  • Negotiates room blocks, room rates, function space, food and beverage prices, and hotel services within approved departmental booking guidelines. Confirms in writing to the client and all affected hotel departments all group requirements via group sales contract, corporate rate agreement, or catering event order.

  • Actively participates in sales trips to local trade and professional associations/corporations, travel agents, as well as other local and state organizations that could result in potential business for the hotel.

  • Ensures that current and prospective client databases are maintained, that files are kept current and accessible, and that timely sales recap reports are submitted to the Sales Director.

  • Responsible for acquiring and maintaining a solid base of customers to attain a high level of occupancy and level of profitability.

  • Work collaboratively with other departments employees to ensure successful events resulting in repeat business.

  • Follow-up on all meeting and banquet functions with the customer contact person and solicit future business.

  • Conducts hotel tours and entertains qualified potential clients in accordance with the company and property policies.

  • Assists the Sales Director in the preparation of the department budget and overall sales objectives and strategies of the hotel.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Highly energetic and motivated individual

  • Must have strong sales and communication skills

  • Previous hospitality industry experience preferred but not required

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong customer/client focus essential

  • Self-Starter with ability to work independently and as a team

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment

  • Ability to shift and manage multiple priorities

  • Results driven focus and ability to work through to completion in a timely manner

  • Adaptable to change

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products to include, but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook
